The Host by Stephenie Meyer

Our first book selection is 'The Host' by Stephenie Meyer!

It is 619 pages and 59 chapters plus Prologue and Epilogue.  If we can read 5 chapters a week, we can finish it within 12 weeks.  If everyone feels like they can read more than that, we could adjust it.  But I know how busy everyone is, so this seems like a doable amount for anyone.  Reading should be completed by Sunday evenings, and I can commit to posting each Monday evening.  Everyone can post at any time as we go along, but each Monday would especially be for official posts on the 5 chapters just completed.

I'm looking forward to reading this book again, as it's one of my top 10 favorite books ever.  And since I'm the moderator, anyone will be welcome to email or text me throughout with any questions.

When you begin this book, please make note that the first 6-7 chapters move a little slow, but once you have those under your belt it will be an exciting and satisfying literary adventure.

I am hoping all of us Cherry girls are willing and able to participate in this club!!  And if it works, I'd love to eventually introduce everyone to Aislinn Foy...she's one bad-ass fairy.

So, if you're game, let's begin reading the first set of chapters starting Monday, January 24th.

Happy Reading!!

Lesli

Barring any hugely stressful events, I can read 5 chapters a week. I'm looking forward to another Stephanie Meyers book!

I've got to pick the book up at Shelby's still, but I'll try to get it soon. I think I'm going to have to set aside designated "reading" time for myself.

I've started...holy cow...the chapters aren't that long and the reading is easy, so this should work. I signed up but now it doesn't show me. Ooops.

Mom, we are reading 5 chapters per week. The first week should be the prologue + 5 chapters. After this first week, if everyone agrees to increase the # of chapters, we can totally do that, but only if everyone agrees. Leave no man behind!!

Rashel, you won't need to set aside any special time to read these chapters...the book club name says it all.

Follow this blog by clicking on "Follow" in the box to the right of the first blog post. Follow the steps, and choose follow public so we can all see you. If you already have a Blogger Blog, all you do is input your login credentials. If you don't, you have to select from a few different options, like a pre-existing Google login and follow the steps. If neither apply to you, you'll just have to create a valid login. If I can figure it out, I know you can! Follow soon so I know you're in!!

Guess I'm getting old. I put up a new name and picture on my Google and it's not showing it - phooey! I'll keep working on it.

I'm excited and will start tonight. But as always, I am naughty, naughty, naughty and I will read ALL I WANT TO!!!!

I can't get this straight OR remember all my names and pswdswds so I lost all my wonderful comments. Trying again..if this works, I'll redo it!

OK!
I'll read any number agreed upon.

We'll be on a road trip to souther CA Feb. 17-Mar. 1 if we can get along that long! But I'll be reading and logging in from sunshiny places!

I am identifying way to much with Melanie...the oppositional host...go girl. I'm not going to wind up siding with the Souls, am I? Like I did with both the vampires and the wolves??!!

I wonder if Stephanie is getting some of unique ideas and names from her faith-based beliefs? Interesting. She is a great, fast-moving and easy-to-read author.

Why would ANY soul want to be in a seaweed?? Oh yeah, baby, she is loving the human body and is gonna get addicted to it really fast.

First I thought Jared was an older, older man...pervert...but now I'm glad he's not....he is gonna be a great character. Melanie/Wandererer are fascinating to listen to...kind of like my own battling thoughts!

Can't wait to start back reading again...and I'll keep at the pace that is most comfy for all.

Thanks, Lesli, for helping us experience at least my first book club. Been invited to several but was unsure... Looking forward to sharing and learning.

Okay, I'm in! Honeybear just filled her britches on my lap so this will probably be short! I cant help but wonder how she comes up with these ideas? Done with the first five. I"d vote for 10 but the poll is closed! And what the crap is she thinking! Doesn't she realize she should keep her mouth shut about the resistance! No, wait! That's her purpose. Resistance is futile! he, he
